Growth of shrimp aquaculture is slowed down by the viral infections namely, IHHNV, MBV and WSSV which is frequently identifed from Kerala which causes mass mortalities and reduced growth performance of shrimp. Even though researches to avoid these viruses are going through biosecurity measures to farm level is still not achieved. It could be possible if we know more about the pathogenesis,replication and host interaction of these viruses.Absence of shrimp cell line was hampering this process.PmLyO-Sf9, novel crustacean cell line opened a new window to learn more about these viruses.
