Developmental biology of marine macroalga Sargassum wightii at molecular level and identification of growth factors and microbiome for application in micro-propagation.

Seaweed cell and tissue culture has developed to become a distinct branch of in vitro techniques, but its applications are still quite limited and it is far behind those of terrestrial plants. In enriched or synthetic seawater culture conditions, explants can be grown axenically, resulting in regeneration and even callus development. Seaweed tissue culture using this cutting-edge method might already be helpful for some biotechnological uses, such clonal generation of seed stock for mariculture. The work includes , Development of micropropagation protocols and establishment of optimal controlled conditions for the growth of young seedlings in indoor tanks.
